A product review for a convenient vehicle cleaning product
I’ve been using the FW1 Wash & Wax Waterless Polish for a few weeks now, and I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed! I decided to write a FW1 Wash and Wax review because this product is an absolute game-changer for anyone looking for a quick and easy way to keep their car looking shiny and clean without the hassle of water, soap, and buckets.
This product is an absolute must for people who live in a cold climate that want a good option for keeping their car looking nice and having a layer of wax to protect your vehicle’s surface without having to freeze your hands off in a bucket of water!
Performance:
The real standout feature of the FW1 Wash & Wax is its ability to do your vehicle cleaning in one easy step – instead of washing first and then waxing. I was initially skeptical about whether a waterless cleaner could actually remove dirt and grime effectively, but I was pleasantly surprised. The spray has a nice consistency, allowing you to wipe away dust, dirt, and even light stains. Be sure to read my directions for using this product below to get the best results.
Note that this product is NOT recommended for heavy dirt and grime. I go to the cheap do-it-yourself car wash, spend a couple bucks to blast most of the mess off my vehicle, THEN, after I drive home and the rinse water has dried, I use this product. FW1 Wash & Wax then does a great job of removing the leftover film, and leaves a shiny and protective coat of Carnauba wax in it’s place.
Shine & Protection:
Not only does it clean, but it leaves behind a glossy finish that really enhances the paint. The wax component creates a smooth, reflective surface that helps repel water and dust, keeping the car cleaner for longer. After application, my van’s paint had a nice shine that lasted for days.
Ease of Use:
This is where FW1 truly shines. The waterless formula means you can clean your car in virtually any environment—whether you’re at home, in a parking lot, or at a car show. You simply can spray it on, wipe with a microfiber cloth, and buff to a shine. There is no need for hoses or complicated tools. It’s quick, efficient, and leaves no mess behind.
My Directions for Use – Eco Conscious and Best Results
Instead of spraying a bunch of product on a big surface (as the directions on the can suggest), do this for your vehicle cleaning:
- Cut a section out of an old rag that you were probably going to throw away soon. It’s going to be an applicator, so about 6×8″ inches is good.
- Spray FW1 Wash & Wax on the applicator cloth. You don’t need that much.
- Start wiping it on the car surface. Concentrate on removing dust and dirt and don’t worry about appearance yet. If the applicator gets too dirty, just toss it and get another square.
- Work on one area of your vehicle at a time, like the hood, or a fender. Once you have the entire section fairly wiped down, let’s make it start looking good.
- Get a soft absorbent cloth. I like old cotton baby diapers, but use whatever works for you. Get the cloth slightly wet and wring it out.
- Wipe the area that has been cleaned with FW1 Wash & Wax. The tiny bit of water will smooth out the product and remove streaks.
- Once the area is dry (it only take a minute or so), do a final wipe with a clean cloth or chamois.
- Move onto the next section!
Other notes:
- While you can use FW1 Wash & Wax on windows, there really isn’t much benefit, so save on product and use a window cleaner instead.
- FW1 Wash & Wax does a nice job on plastic and rubber parts: bumpers, light lenses , gaskets, emblems, etc.
My Results

The left back door of my van cleaned up nicely with FW1 Wash & Wax. I let the right side, including the bumper alone so that you could see the difference.
Eco Considerations
In addition to not needing water to do vehicle cleaning with this product, I like that the manufacturer mentions on the label that their cans are made from 33% recycled steel. In my area, if the can is completely empty, I can put it in the recycling bin after removing the cap and spray nozzle.
Versatility:
FW1 Wash & Wax isn’t just for cars! I’ve used it on my bicycle and even on my outdoor furniture. It works great on a variety of surfaces, which makes it a versatile addition to your cleaning supplies. Plus, it’s safe for use on all paint finishes.
Pros:
- Waterless – perfect for times when you can’t wash with water (like in the WINTER)
- Easy to use – no bucket, no hose, no mess
- Leaves a protective wax layer – adds a layer of shine and protection
- Versatile – works on vehicles, furniture, and more
- Long-lasting shine – maintains gloss for days
Cons:
- Price – it’s a little on the higher side for a waterless cleaner, especially if you use the directions on the can. Be sure to read my directions for use that will help you get the best results.
- Not for heavy dirt – if your car is very dirty (muddy or covered in thick grime), this may not be enough to clean it thoroughly. It’s best for light cleaning and touch-ups. See my notes above about how to use this product for very filthy vehicles.
Conclusion:
Overall, FW1 Wash & Wax Waterless Polish is a fantastic product that combines convenience, efficiency, and excellent results. It’s perfect for quick touch-ups or for keeping your car looking great between washes. If you want a product that’s easy to use and delivers professional-looking results without a lot of effort, this is a must-have for your cleaning arsenal.
FW1 Wash & Wax in a two (2) pack. Each can contains 17.5 ounces of product. It looks like this manufacturer updates the top of the packaging fairly often (the white area at the top of the can), so your package may look slightly different than my picture.
