A Floor Cleaning Product Review
I am sitting here struggling to write something that doesn’t sound like it was written by a bot. I really like Mop & Glo, and it seems like I always have. I tried to remember when I first started using it, but it seems like it’s always been around. I confess, that this all sounds lame, but it’s true.
So WHY do I like it? I “have a thing” about clean floors, and this is one of the quickest ways I know of to get my tile floors cleaned up and looking shiny in just a few minutes. Back in the day, I would use it on vinyl floors, and it did a fine job. It never left a residue and it never caused yellowing of the vinyl. Now I mostly use it for tile floors. I have hardwood floors, too, but I like using cleaning products that contain extra conditioners for the wood. But nothing beats Mop & Glo for tile floor cleanup in my mind.
It’s so Simple to Use Mop & Glo!
I like the way it smells. Right now I have the ‘Fresh Citrus Scent’, but whatever the variety, this stuff makes my brain think “clean floor scent”.
Using it is as simple as squirting some on the floor and pushing it around. I have one of those Swiffer mops, and I just put a paper towel on it instead of one of the refill sheets. It does a good job of collecting the dog hair and any surface dirt. Since Mop & Glo is safe for both vinyl and wood floors, I mop across the thresholds where the tile meets the other materials.
The clean floor scent lasts for several days and the shiny appearance lasts longer than that.
Types of Floors for Mop & Glo
Tile Floors
Mop & Glo is perfect for non-porous tile products such as Porcelain and Ceramic tile. It works well on both the tile areas and the grouted areas. If you have Marble or Granite tile, I would use products specifically formulated for those natural stone products.
Vinyl and Linoleum Floors
I mentioned using Mop & Glo on Vinyl floors above in the “How to Use” section of this article. Some people use the term ‘Vinyl’ interchangeably with the term ‘Linoleum’. Vinyl is a Synthetic (PVC) product and Linoleum is a Natural (linseed oil, cork, wood flour, etc.) product. Vinyl is durable and scratch resistant, so the product just cleans the surface and leaves a nice shine. In the case of Linoleum, as it ages it can get very dull. You can still use Mop & Glo for everyday cleaning and maintenance, but if your linoleum floor is older it may need a deeper cleaning with a purpose-made product and then may need to re-sealed.
Laminate Floors
I recently replaced one of the vinyl floors in my house with Premium Laminate flooring. Wow! What an improvement in so many ways! It also gave me a chance to test Mop & Glo on a laminate floor in my own home environment.
I definitely like Mop & Glo for Laminate floors. All of the Premium Laminates I looked at were intended to be close replicas of hardwood floor material, so they have a low-level shine instead of a glossy appearance. Mop & Glo was perfect for this application. The product easily cleaned up dust, dirt and pet hair, and left a slightly more shiny appearance and a slightly richer color in the mopped areas once it dried. It never looked streaky or glossy.

Since it is hard to see in the picture, I drew two red lines so you can see where I applied the floor cleaner. The cleaned area is above the lines and the untreated area is below.
Hardwood Floors
The label on Mop & Glo says that it is intended for Wood floors and I don’t doubt that. My preference is to use a cleaner that is specific to hardwood so that I am applying some wood conditioners in the process of cleaning my wood. See my article Hardwood Floor Cleaner: My Choice to read about my preferred hardwood product.
