I had a friend that was very “into” those big warehouse stores. We stopped by one to get supplies on the way up for a weekend at his mountain house. He also likes stuff that comes in package assortments, so he picked up one that had Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray – including a spray top and 4 refill units.
To me it seemed like a lot of packaging and marketing. It seemed like a gimmick.
I WAS WRONG.
When we got to the mountains, it turned out we were completely out of dish soap, so I reluctantly opened up the Dawn and tried it out. I became a complete convert. Being able to spray just enough soap on the kitchen sponge or on a few dishes was great. It was convenient and I didn’t feel like I was over-using product. Being able to use the same spray top with the refills saves on packaging and plastic waste over time. The refill containers are a single type of plastic which is easier to process for recycling than spray top bottles that contain multiple materials.

What I Love About It:
- Convenience: The spray bottle makes it super easy to apply the dish soap directly onto dishes. Unlike traditional dishwashing liquid, there’s no need to pour or squeeze a heavy bottle. Just spray, scrub, and rinse. It’s faster, cleaner, and far less wasteful.
- Powerful Cleaning: The real magic happens with its cleaning power. The formula cuts through grease, stuck-on food, and even dried sauces without needing to scrub for ages. I can’t believe how quickly it breaks down tough messes, especially on greasy pans or baked-on food.
- Less Soap, More Cleaning: The product foams up beautifully with just a quick spray, covering large surface areas with less soap. A little goes a long way, which makes the bottle last longer than I expected. In fact, I sometimes go several months before needing to change to a new refill.
- Smells great: I especially like the Apple fragrance variety.
- Eco-Friendly: I love that the spray bottle is reusable. After finishing the initial bottle, you can buy refill bottles, which is a great way to reduce plastic waste.
Final Thoughts:
The Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray has completely changed the way I do dishes. It’s incredibly effective, efficient, and easy to use. If you’re looking for a dish soap that tackles grease and grime with minimal effort, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s now a staple in my kitchen, and I rarely use the traditional dishwashing liquids unless I am filling up the sink with hot water to wash a bunch of items.
Have one of those ‘personal blenders’? You know, those ‘make one smoothie’ kind of convenience appliance? Add a small spritz of Dash Powerwash Spray and some water in the capsule, and put it back on the blender motor. Spin it around a bit and the whole thing is clean!
This starter kit gives you the spray top (which you can continue to re-use over and over) and one starting container + three (3) of the 16 ounce refills (a total of 64 ounces of product). This link will take you to the Lemon Scent variety.
This package contains six (6) refills for your Powerwash sprayer. Each one is the 16 ounce refill size and contains my very favorite scent: APPLE !!
These sponges deserve their own product review, but for now, I will just give you the link to the yellow sponge that is shown in my picture. These Scotch Brite sponges have a long lasting sponge on one side and a tough pot-scrubbing scouring pad on the other side. They also fit perfectly in my hand.
